Lori and I left the island for five days this week to attend our daughter-in-law, Amy’s, graduation from Nursing School with Honors! She was also voted the Nurse with the Biggest Heart by her fellow classmates. We are proud of you Amy! 🙂
We took advantage of the opportunity to spend a few days in Manhattan with Alex and Amy, visited our targeted furniture suppliers and explored the polar opposite of St. John. Lori is really zeroing in on the right look and feel for the villas, and they are going to be amazing. Manhattan is such an amazing blend of small entrepreneur’s on the street level, with humans and the heart of corporate America living and operating in floors 2-n of every building in this gritty, frenetic and vibrant place.
David and Mike arrive in about three weeks to install the custom mill work David designed for the wine cellar, located at the base of the tower in the Tower Villa. The crew has finished the framing and the final electric, plumbing and installation of the exterior window and doors are scheduled for the coming week. We also have our interior door and siding specialist from Puerto Rico, along with our supplier of exterior doors, windows, railings and other key building supplies visiting from Pompano Beach, FL this week.
Once the exterior doors and windows are in place, we’ll close up the rear wall, insulate, install lighting and begin plastering work.
The upper 1BR villa is all cleaned up and once the crew finishes removal of the interior cistern forms, we’ll frame it up and install the window and door package for this beautiful spot!
Most of the exterior forms from Poolside Villa #1 have been removed, and we’re expecting the windows and doors to arrive for these two units in about three weeks.
While we were in NYC, the crew also poured the cistern slab for the 1BR Honeymoon Villa and are now putting the forms in place for the cistern walls.
Great progress this week in spite of some rain.
Have a great week everyone!
